Valérie De Sutter, the founder of JNPR, talks about the history of JNPR and how this idea of developing an alcohol-free and sugar-free spirit came about: "I found that there was a lack of choice at the time of aperitif, often the choice was limited between alcoholic drinks or too sweet sodas. I wanted to create a happy medium, something to enjoy an aperitif, but not necessarily an alcoholic drink. ".
But then how do you make a sugar-free and alcohol-free spirit in which you find a real cocktail taste? The entrepreneur's answer is simple: "the subtlety of a drink does not come from the alcohol but from its manufacturing process". To create JNPR n°1, she explains, we use the same spices as in a gin, in particular juniper berries, we distill them in water in a still with spices and plants, without adding sugar or artificial flavor. We then obtain an intense, aromatic and sophisticated taste, all without sugar and alcohol. The desire here is to draw inspiration from certain spirits while keeping its own identity, in order to be able to invite the aperitif again without compromising on taste.
Non-alcoholic is a booming sector that is nevertheless facing growing demand. More and more people want to reduce their consumption for several reasons (pregnant women, health reasons, diabetes...). “The trend we are seeing is that of moderation, of people who want to reduce their consumption, especially during the week. We are very much into a drink on Tuesday evening, Thursday evening, that moment when you want to have a drink, but not necessarily alcoholic” declared the founder.
